Gratin Dauphinois

This a traditional and so tasty  french side dish. This recipe is based on Alain Ducasse recipe (3 stars michelin chef)

Ingredients:

2 pounds potatoes
1/3 cup cubed butter
6 garlic cloves
1l milk
1 ¼ cream
1 teaspoon nutmeg


Directions

Peel and wash the potatoes and cut into very thin slices.
Heat a big saucepan over high heat. Pour the milk and bring it to a boil. Add the nutmeg, garlic, and salt and pepper to taste.
Then add the potato slices in the milk and cook for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile grease a baking dish and preheat oven 375 F degrees
Remove from the heat and stir in the cream. Transfer to the greased baking dish, cover with the milk mixture and sprinkle the cubed butter.
Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour
